This newsletter is for parents, across all age groups, to provide an update on matters to do with our club.

  1. Club House

Great news on the club house front!  We expect to have the new club house in place by the end of this year.

We have got planning permission in place, but we need to make a couple of amendments to this, relating to drainage and access.  Once this is in place, work can get underway which we hope will be in the summer.

  1. Rastrick Juniors Annual Gala – 17th June 2017

Our annual gala takes place on 17th June 2017, but will only be for the U7s, U8s,U9s and U10s this year.

We no longer have access to the area where we have parked in the past as this has been turned into a play area and cycle track so we need to have a smaller tournament this year.  Further details will be provided by your age group manager over the next few weeks, but please keep the date free. As usual, we will need volunteers to help out on the stalls and BBQ.

As well as a day of great of fun and competition, the annual gala is our main fundraising event and is essential to the running of the club.

  1. Respecting referees

Most of the referees at our games are parent volunteers (who were usually tricked into taking on the refereeing a long time ago on the promise it would just be for one game).

Please reinforce with your children that the referee’s decision should be respected at all times.  If players are booked for dissent, they will have to pay the fine that we get from the League.

  1. Car Parking

Some of you will be aware of two recent incidents in which people have collapsed with suspected heart attacks at Carr Green playing fields.  On both occasions, ambulances have struggled to get down Carr Green Lane because of cars being double parked.

The local authority will shortly be undertaking a consultation on painting double yellow lines along one side of Carr Green Lane but, in the meantime, please ensure that you only park on the cemetery side of Carr Green Lane.  We need to set an example.

  1. Fundraising group and new website

Chris Walsh has set up a fundraising group so that we can raise much needed funds for the club.

The first event will be a race night at Rastrick Bowling Club on Friday 31st March for the U6s, U7s, U8s, U9s and U10s.  Your age group manager will provide further details.

Details of further events will be posted on the website.  A big thank you to John (U7s) for creating the new website which you can find at www.rastrickjfc.co.uk

  1. Follow your team’s progress

If you want to follow the progress of your team, log onto the Huddersfield and District Junior Football League and select “Fixtures/Results”. The section defaults to U7s, so select your own age group to see forthcoming fixtures and results for U12s and older. The league only publishes results for the Under 12s and above.

  1. Pitch lining

Each week we need to line the pitches at Carr Green so that they are ready for the weekend matches.

If you – or maybe you know of a relative or friend who is retired and has some free time – could spare 2-3 hours a week on a Thursday or Friday, this would be a huge help to the club.  It’s very straightforward (despite the lines on the U12s pitch looking a bit wonky of late). Please speak to your age group manager if you can help.

  1. Future topics

If there are any topics you would like including in future newsletters, please e-mail Stuart Shore (U12s manager) at shore921@btinternet.com

Best wishes to you and your teams!
